Pełen muzycznych pomysłów i treści, które wciąż są aktualne, kultowy, podwójny album Prince’a “Sign O’ The Times” odzwierciedla artystę w okresie, gdy definiował się na nowo. Ostateczne 16 utworów, które trafiło na płytę, to zaledwie część niezliczonych nagrań Prince’a z bardzo płodnego okresu 1985-1987. W tym czasie doszło do rozwiązania jego zespołu The Revolution i zbudowania kompleksu nagraniowego Paisley Park, a przede wszystkim do stworzenia (a w końcu wrzucenia do szuflady) płyt “Dream Factory”, “Camille” i “Crystal Ball”.
3CD deluxe edition zawiera klasyczny album zremasterowany po raz pierwszy przez oryginalnego inżyniera Prince’a, Berniego Grundmana, a także pojedyncze miksy i edycje wydane w okresie, w którym album się ukazał.
