Kolejny album zespołu, który ukazuje się w zremasterowanej i poszerzonej
wersji. "Drums & Wires" miał premierę w 1979r. Andy Partridge wspomina
ten czas jako bardzo optymistyczny dla zespołu. Gitarzysta Dave Gregory
zastąpił grającego na organach Barry'ego Andrewsa, co wpłynęło na zmianę
stylu grupy, którą tworzyli teraz dwaj gitarzyści, basista i perkusista.
Mimo licznych koncertów muzycy znaleźli czas, by szlifować nowy
materiał, a Partridge i Colin Moulding nabierali pewności jako twórcy.
Album zawdzięcza swój ostateczny kształt także producentowi Steve'owi
Lillywhite'owi i inżynierowi Hugh Padghamowi, których doświadczenie w
studiu nadało całości nowy, dojrzały wymiar.
35 lat po premierze Steven Wilson z Porcupine Tree zmiksował album w
nowej wersji stereo i 5.1 surround. Na nowo zmiksowano również kilka
innych utworów, które pojawiają się w wersji stereo i 5.1. To m.in. obie
strony singla, który towarzyszył pierwszym egzemplarzom winylowej edycji
albumu, utwory wydane tylko na singlach i strony B. Oryginalny miks
albumu zamieszczono również w wersji high-resolution stereo. Na blu-ray
zamieszczono miks 5.1 surround 24bit/96khz, nowy miks stereo
24bit/96khz, miksy DJM - utwory wybrane na potencjalne single,
wideoklipy do singli "Making Plans For Nigel" i "Life Begins at the Top"
oraz 5 sesji demo, dzięki którym można poznać pełny proces powstawania
albumu.
