Documentary
      film about the jazz icon.
Afraid of the Dark is the candid
documentary that takes an in-depth look at the legendary jazz musician's
      life on
and off the camera and the effects his careers had on how
Black entertainers were and are treated in American society.
The
documentary will chronicle Cole's time as the only black television star
in Hollywood during a time when people of color were demonized and
attacked, and will highlight the unwillingness of advertising executives
to actively promote and patronize Cole and other people of color.
Directed
by Jon Brewer, the film features never before seen archival footage of
      the late singer,
and interviews with Cole?s widow, Maria Cole, his
      daughter, Natalie Cole; and friends
and musical peers Harry
Belafonte, Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennett and Aaron Neville.
